Pochettino was thrown in at the deep end when he was handed his first managerial job in senior football at Espanyol.
His first match in charge was against city rivals Barcelona in the Copa del Rey; a tie that he would go on to lose over two legs.
In terms of his league record, though, Pochettino drew his first 3 matches against Real Valladolid, Recreativo and Getafe before losing to Sevilla.
However, in his fifth game in charge, he beat Barca at the Camp Nou 2-1, ingratiating himself to Espanyol’s supporters almost instantly.
