Chelsea Player Ratings V Everton: One Player Gets 10/10 While Two Others Get 8

Chelsea recorded an emphatic 6-0 win over Everton on Monday evening that keeps them firmly in the hunt for European qualification.

It’s fair to say that the margin of victory was a surprise but a huge amount of credit for the result has to go to Cole Palmer, who scored 4 goals on the night.

The result moves Mauricio Pochettino’s side to within three points of sixth place Newcastle and they have a game in hand as well.

Goalkeeper and Defence

GK – Djordje Petrovic – 6/10 – made a couple of decent saves but he was largely untroubled by Everton.

RB – Malo Gusto – 6/10 – started poorly but grew into the game. He could have had an assist in the second half if Jackson had managed to get on the end of one of his crosses.

CB – Trevoh Chalobah – 7/10  – put in a much better performance than he did at Bramall Lane just over a week ago.

CB – Thiago Silva  – 7/10 – made a crucial interception to clear a James Tarkowski cross that could have been tapped in at close range. Solid and reliable at the back.

LB – Marc Cucurella – 7/10 – got the assist with a good cross for Chelsea’s fourth goal, although most of the hard was done by Jackson to score.

Midfield

CM – Moises Caicedo – 7/10 – much more positive both in and out of possession, winning the ball off Everton and linking up well with quick passes to teammates.

CM – Conor Gallagher –  8/10 – used his work rate and endeavour to good effect in a deeper-lying midfield position.

AM – Cole Palmer – 10/10 – four goals – there isn’t much more to say about the 21-year-old’s performance than that.

Remarkably, Palmer has now pulled level with Erling Haaland at the top of the Premier League’s goalscoring charts.

Forwards

RW – Noni Madueke – 6/10 – ellusive in possession but his attitude after the awarding of the penalty was poor.

CF – Nicolas Jackson 8/10 – really sharp and took his goal extremely well, taking the ball out of the air from Cucurella’s cross, swivelling and shooting in one motion.

However, his petulant attitude following the award of the penalty kick was extremely disappointing. Needs to grow up.

LW – Mykhailo Mudryk – 7/10 – the Ukrainian’s mazy run before Palmer scored the second goal was important.

Substitutes

Carney Chukwuemeka – 6/10 – could not really get involved in the game, despite replacing Noni Madueke with the best part of 20 minutes left to go.

Ben Chilwell – 7/10 – the vice-captain replaced Mudryk with 10 minutes remaining and kept the ball, ensuring the Blue saw out the game comfortably.

Alfie Gilchrist – 7/10 – got his first goal for the club with a composed finish at the far post. The academy product was absolutely delighted to get on the scoresheet.

Deivid Washington – N/A

Cesare Casadei – N/A
