Alan Stubbs Names THREE Chelsea Stars As He Is Asked Who Is The Most Overrated Premier League Player

Former Everton defender Alan Stubbs has named Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk as the player who has struggled the most to match expectations since his arrival in the Premier League.

When asked by BestBettingSites.com who he thought was the most overrated player in English football, Stubbs replied:

“It’s hard not to look past some of the signings that Chelsea have made over the last couple of seasons when you think of overrated players. I think the most overrated or the biggest disappointment in terms of not living up to the hype, has to be Mykhailo Mudryk. They snatched the player from under the noses of Arsenal, and his capture was presented as a real coup, a statement. He just hasn’t looked anywhere near the player that we all hoped he could be in his time at the club. When I watched him playing in the Champions League for Shakhtar Donetsk, I thought that he looked like a world-beater. I was really excited to see what he was going to bring to the Premier League, but it hasn’t happened for him. He has just flattered to deceive.”

In addition to Mudryk, Stubbs also singled out Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo for criticism, questioning whether the midfielders have lived up to their price tags:

“They’re both good players, but have they performed anywhere near the level that you expect from midfielders that cost over £100m? I don’t think they’ve made the impact that you’d be looking for from them for such a significant investment. They’re both top players, we’ve seen them do it before, but I haven’t watched them play for Chelsea and seen them dominate. That’s what you expect from players with those kind of price tags.”

No one can argue with Stubbs about Mudryk

It’s nearly two years since the Ukrainian first arrived at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea having paid a hefty £89m (including add-ons) to secure his signature.

However, things simply haven’t worked out for the Mudryk. He has struggled to make an impact, having scored just 7 goals and provided 7 assists in 66 appearances for the Blues. He has found himself relegated to bench duties with Jadon Sancho favoured ahead of him in the pecking order by head coach Enzo Maresca

Chelsea duo are finally finding their feat

While it’s fair to say that they have yet to live up to their £100m+ price tags, both Fernandez and Caicedo have shown some good signs this season.

The latter, in particular, has put in performances much more reminiscent of those we saw at Brighton. There has been the odd game where Caicedo has struggled but he has justified his starting position for the most part.

Fernandez has begun to take on more authority in the middle of the park, controlling games with his passing. Admittedly, though, he hasn’t really shown the level of performance that many fans expected of him when he first moved from Benfica.
