1) Rosenior won’t implement his philosophy straight away

The 41-year-old knows he needs to be pragmatic when first joining a new team. Writing in an article for the Coaches Voices, he does emphasise that he follows a possession-based approach:

“It gives me so much satisfaction when I see my team be dominant”.

However, Rosenior needed to stop his Hull side from conceding goals first and foremost to ensure they stayed in the Championship, and they initially adopted a low block and a 4-4-2. They easily avoided relegation.

The following summer, when he felt he had the time to develop his preferred style, he changed to his possession-based football, and his team only narrowly missed out on the playoffs as a result.
