EXCLUSIVE: Wright-Phillips Names The Chelsea Summer Signing Who Is “Going To Be Hard To Stop”

Ex-Chelsea star Shaun Wright-Phillips thinks the Blues’ newest recruit Estevao is “going to be hard to stop” this season.

The young Brazilian has joined training at Cobham for the first time this week, and speaking exclusively to Chelsea News (courtesy of AceOdds.com), Wright-Phillips said he hopes the winger keeps on playing without any inhibitions:

“‘Don’t change the way you play,’ would be the advice I would give Estevao. For a winger, it’s very important to be unpredictable and make the fullback work. He did that all through the Club World Cup, and I can imagine he has done it all through the season in Brazil.”

“If he comes here with that same attitude, it is going to be hard to stop him, because he looks like a young lad with a lot of confidence who just wants to take people on. He just wants to score goals and create a lot of chances.”

When will Chelsea fans see Estevao in action for the 1st time?

Due to Enzo Maresca’s side’s participation in the Club World Cup, it means there is a truncated pre-season, with only two friendlies.

The Blues take on Bayer Leverkusen on Friday at Stamford Bridge, before hosting AC Milan just a couple of days later.

It’s likely that Maresca will field two separate elevens due to the short gap between the fixtures, so you would expect Estevao will be named in the lineup for one of them.

An adaptation process will be required, and fans may have to be patient in terms of the 18-year-old getting minutes in the Premier League.

With his prodigious talent, though, you would not be surprised if he manages to supplant Pedro Neto for minutes on the right flank as we progress through the course of this season. He is one to keep a very close eye on.
