It’s nearly two years since Enzo Fernandez joined Chelsea from Benfica for a British record £107m. Much was expected of the midfielder but it’s fair to say that things haven’t really gone to plan.
Injuries and off-field problems haven’t helped matters but his performances have not met expectations. It culminated in head coach Enzo Maresca dropping Fernandez in favour of Romeo Lavia for key games.
With Lavia not 100% fit to face Leicester, though, Fernandez was given another chance to show what he can do, and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
