RANKED: The 5 Favourites To Replace Pochettino As Chelsea Manager Based On Win %

Plenty of Chelsea supporters have begun to turn on current manager Mauricio Pochettino after the Blues dropped more points against Brentford at the weekend.

Some have lost patience with the Argentine following the defeat to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final and the fact that the team sit 11th in the Premier League.

While the club’s board are not currently considering replacements for Pochettino, the pressure to sack the coach may build if results don’t improve. The bookmakers are already taking bets on who could replace him.

Press the next page as we look at the 5 frontrunners for the job, ranked by their win % in senior football.

5) Roberto De Zerbi – 41.6%

Some supporters will be hesitant about appointing another Brighton head coach following the experience with Graham Potter.

However, De Zerbi is well-regarded throughout the game with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola labelling him “one of the most influential managers of the last 20 years.”

The Italian does have the lowest win percentage on our list but that is mainly down to the low-calibre of clubs he has managed.

De Zerbi’s brave and attack-minded style of play would certainly get fans off their seats at Stamford Bridge.

4) Michel Sanchez – 43.6%

The Spaniard has been winning many plaudits for the job he is doing at Girona.

For much of this season, Michel’s team have been in contention to win the La Liga title. However, they have begun to fall behind Real Madrid in recent weeks after a number of defeats.

That should not detract from the job that the manager has been doing at Girona. Working on a limited budget, he has created a team that is exciting to watch and producing results.

Michel has, though, never managed a high-profile team, having been in charge at Rayo Vallecano and Huesca previously.

3) Hansi Flick – 55.6%

The German is currently favourite with bookmaker BetVictor for the Chelsea job and he is likely to be among the names considered if Pochettino is sacked.

Flick had a successful stint in charge of Bayern Munich, where he won the treble (league, cup and Champions League) in 2021.

After being appointed Germany head coach, though, he struggled, with his team not qualifying from the group stage of the 2022 World Cup.

Flick’s style of play is very offensive and it remains to be seen how that philosophy would translate to English football.

2) Jose Mourinho – 62%

Some fans have been calling for the 61-year-old to return for a third stint in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho’s CV is phenomenal and he is currently available after being sacked by Roma earlier this season.

However, there are concerns about how he has performed in his recent jobs. His win % has steadily declined since he left Chelsea in 2015.

Many will also be worried that Mourinho is not the best at handling young players, which could be a recipe for disaster considering the current age of the Blues squad.

1) Ruben Amorim- 70.7%

The 39-year-old is already believed to have his fans on the Chelsea board.

Amorim has been incredibly successful since being appointed Sporting Lisbon head coach, winning the league title in 2021 as well as three other trophies.

His team is also currently top of the Liga Portugal table, with many tipping him to go on to greater things if he leaves Sporting.

It must be said that Amorim is untested outside of his homeland and Chelsea may have to fend off Liverpool, who are also keen on the Portuguese coach.
