The Spaniard has been winning many plaudits for the job he is doing at Girona.

For much of this season, Michel’s team have been in contention to win the La Liga title. However, they have begun to fall behind Real Madrid in recent weeks after a number of defeats.

That should not detract from the job that the manager has been doing at Girona. Working on a limited budget, he has created a team that is exciting to watch and producing results.

Michel has, though, never managed a high-profile team, having been in charge at Rayo Vallecano and Huesca previously.
