Positive #3 – Trevoh Chalobah

Levi Colwill’s ACL injury did raise alarm bells, with even Maresca calling for a replacement to be brought in.

The club’s recruitment team were, though, adamant that the squad had enough depth to cover his absence. So far, that has proven to be the case, with just 1 goal conceded in the first 3 fixtures.

Chalobah’s performances have been the standout so far. His partnership with Tosin Adarabioyo has looked pretty strong.

Negative #1 – Striker Concerns

Liam Delap’s hamstring injury sent Chelsea into a panic before the transfer deadline, with the club cancelling and then reviving Nicolas Jackson’s move to Bayern Munich.

Marc Guiu was also recalled from Sunderland to provide a bit more cover for Pedro, but the club are still short of options up front.

Maresca will simply have to hope that Pedro doesn’t pick up an injury of his own before Delap returns in a couple of months.

Positive #4 – Wingers galore

Alejandro Garnacho‘s arrival means that Maresca now has two genuine options on both wings for the first time in a while.

Pedro Neto and Estevao will compete on the right, while Garnacho will vie with Jamie Gittens on the left.

Based on the first three games, it seems Estevao is the most impressive performer, and the other three may have to be rotated on the opposite flank.
