‘This Is A Prank, Right?’ ‘I Actually Like It’ Chelsea Fans Discuss Leaked Images Of New Away Kit

Chelsea's stadium - Stamford Bridge

Pictures purporting to show Chelsea’s new away shirt have leaked out online and supporters are divided on whether they like it or not.

It’s a black and blue design that is apparently inspired by Umbro’s 2002/03 kit but, in stark contrast, to that jersey, Nike have decided to use a digital graphic that covers the whole shirt. Needless to say that fans on Twitter have differing opinions on whether it is actually any good:

There is currently no shirt sponsor

As you may have noticed from the images, the front of shirt sponsor is absent. Chelsea‘s deal with mobile firm 3 expired at the start of the month and the Blues are currently in negotiations with a replacement.

Betting firm Stake are the favourites, having outbid insurance company Allianz, but the decision to go with Stake will be controversial due to the club’s stance on gambling.

The release date for Chelsea’s away kit

It is believed that the away shirt will be released in mid-July so it won’t be long before supporters can get their hands on it in shops.

From the initial reaction from those online, though, the jersey is unlikely to be a top seller, although it is often the case that these kits look better in person than in pictures.
