Chelsea are the frontrunners to sign Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde, according to reports in the Spanish media.

Manchester United are also believed to be interested in the Frenchman, but the Red Devils have other options they are considering, including Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and Villarreal’s Pau Torres.

Arsenal have also been mentioned as a potential destination for Kounde, but their lack of European football is likely to hinder them, and they are already locked in talks about signing an alternative in Brighton’s Ben White.

That means Chelsea would be the most likely option if Kounde does leave Sevilla this summer. There have been claims that the 22-year-old could be sold for around €65m (£56m) and whether such an asking price will tempt the Blues into making an offer, we shall have to wait and see.

Sevilla have reportedly not received any formal approaches so far, but they do expect a number of bids before the close of the transfer window.
