Chelsea May Have Found Their Striker

Chelsea have had a rough time finding a striker to live up to the same level as the rest of the team. It is safe to say Torres is not going to return to the form showed while at Liverpool, Demba Ba is good but not great and Eto’o still looks like a temporary solution. Lukaku looked like an excellent alternative but he has been sent on loan until the end of the season. With Chelsea being involved in three major competitions, with real chances of winning each and every one of them, some transfers are definitely needed to strengthen the offense. After missing out on Falcao and Rooney during the summer, the Blues have been searching for someone just as good. The answer seems to come from Mourinho’s former team, FC Porto.

Jackson Martínez has been one of last years’ top scorers managing 46 goals for Porto. He is still continuing that great form in the 2013-2014 season managing to score 10 goals up until now. The only problem with the Colombian forward is that he will not be able to perform in the Champions League with Chelsea seeing that he has already made some appearances for Porto in the same competition. It would be less productive for Mourinho to use players like Torres in the Champions League and players like Jackson Martínez in the premier League. The ideal situation would be the other way around.

Chelsea are not the only team to keep an eye on Martinez who recently declared he is ready to leave Porto. The Blues will have to face tough competition in order to bring in the 27 year old striker. Arsenal, Dortmund, Monaco and Napoli also look eager to place a bid for the Colombian.

It will all depend on what Martinez’s expectations are. According to Metro, Porto’s striker is looking to get a good transfer which will probably mean he is heading to either England or Italy. Seeing that Portuguese football is rather similar to English football rather than Italian football it is more than likely we will see the Colombian heading for the Premier League this winter or during the summer at the latest.
