Chelsea ‘Ready To Offer’ £6.85M A Year Contract To Pochettino Replacement With 84% Win Ratio This Season

Chelsea are among a number of clubs pursuing Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi, according to Tuttosport.

The Italian tabloid claims that the Blues are “bewitched” by the 47-year-old, who has guided the Nerazzurri to the summit of the Serie A table this season.

With Inzaghi’s €5.5m a year contract set to expire next year, Inter are trying to tie him down to a new deal but he is attracting plenty of suitors.

In addition to Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Barcelona are also keeping tabs on the Italian’s situation.

It is believed that some of these teams, including the Blues, are “ready to offer” €8m (£6.85m) a season to tempt Inzaghi into leaving Italy.

What do Chelsea fans need to know about Inzaghi?

The Italian’s first role in management was with Lazio; a club he managed for five years between 2016 and 2021.

During his time at the Stadio Olimpico, Inzaghi won the Italian Cup as well as two Italian Super Cups, with his highest-place finish in the league being 4th in 2020.

Since moving to Inter, he has reached the Champions League final, as well as winning two Italian Cups and three Italian Super Cups. However, a first league title has proven elusive up until now.

That is likely to change this season, though. His Inter side are 9 points ahead of second-placed Juventus with a game in hand. His team have won 21 of their 25 matches so far (a win ratio of 84%).

Is Pochettino set to leave Stamford Bridge?

Following the defeat to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup, there has been increasing speculation about Mauricio Pochettino’s future.

As things stand, no decision has been made on whether the Blues will part company with the Argentine, but he will need to have a strong end to the season to stop the club from considering potential replacements. If Tuttosport‘s information is accurate, Inzaghi is among the contenders.
