Chelsea Make Remy Signing To Replace Torres

Even though Mourinho insisted that there will be no new players joining the team, Chelsea decided to make a last minute move. Loic Remy who was linked to several important Premier League teams after a great season with Newcastle will replace Torres who is no longer part of the Blues’ plan. The French international who turned 27 this year will fight for a spot in Chelsea’s first team with Drogba and Diego Costa who have already set the standards pretty high.

Remy, who came to the Premier League just two years back seems to have adapted well to English football. Last season he managed to score 14 times in 27 appearances which is very impressive when compared to Torres who scored 11 times in 41 games. Hopefully the Frenchman will maintain a steady scoring rate thus managing to provide the necessary competition for Costa to up his game.

The 27 year old Frenchman is a highly versatile forward who can also be used as a winger or as a second striker. Last season, he looked more efficient than Chelsea’s entire striker line put together. With a 4 year contract pointing towards the fact that Mourinho is planning on using Remy regularly, things seem to be looking up for Chelsea. The Portuguese boss seems to have finally solved the Blues’ biggest problem which was the fact that their strikers had a very low scoring rate. The only concern now, according to Metro, is that Remy might not be able to keep up with the high pressure and intense program Chelsea have during a regular season.
