Chelsea Made Contact With Porto Star ‘Very Recently’ As Blues Step Up Chase For Defender

Chelsea are still very much interested in signing Porto left-back Alex Telles, according to Soccer Link. The French website reports that the Blues contacted the Brazilian “very recently” ahead of a possible bid for the defender.

It is claimed that director Marina Granovskaia is looking to sign two left-backs this summer with Telles and Paris Saint-Germain’s Layvin Kurzawa looking the likeliest candidates to be recruited at the moment.

A move for Leicester’s Ben Chilwell has been mooted for a number of months, but Soccer Link say that the England international could prove too costly, with competition from Manchester City and Tottenham also complicating matters.

If Chelsea were to snap up two fullbacks, the writing would very much be on the wall for Emerson Palmieri. The Italian was an unused substitute in the 2-1 win against Aston Villa, with manager Frank Lampard having selected Marcos Alonso in the starting line up instead.
