Chelsea Looking To Secure 2nd Atletico Player After Costa

After the Costa deal seems to have reached a point of agreement for all parties, it is time for yet another bid for one of Atletico’s players. Left-back Filipe Luis who is currently in Brazil, may well join Chelsea after he returns from the World Cup. According to the Daily Mail, Mourinho is set to match the Brazilian international’s buy-out clause which is set at £21million. It will be a tempting move for Luis who will be more likely to move if Diego Costa and Tiago also join the Blues after an amazing season with the Spanish side who won La Liga.

The only thing standing between Luis and Chelsea might be Diego Simeone who told Atletico’s managerial team that he will be leaving if any other player aside from Costa is allowed to move to away from Madrid.

The Blues have probably been the most active team on the transfer market so far considering they have already signed Fabregas and seem just a few days away from securing Costa especially now that Spain are out of the World Cup following their 2-0 loss to Chile on Wednesday night. They have also been linked to Modric and Varane in one of the most interesting deals of the summer. Mourinho is clearly looking to spend big after letting David Luiz join PSG for a record breaking £50million.

Luis would make a great addition to the team especially considering the fact that Cole will not be performing for Chelsea next year. The Brazilian had an amazing season with Atletico and he is currently considered one of the best defenders in the world even if he finds himself second choice for his national team behind Real Madrid’s Marcelo.
