Chelsea Look To Serie A To Recruit Morata Replacement With Two Strikers In Mind

Chelsea are interested in signing either Inter striker Mauro Icardi or AC Milan forward Patrick Cutrone, according to reports in the UK.

The Blues are believed to have lost patience with Alvaro Morata who has been displaced in the first team by Olivier Giroud in recent weeks.

Icardi is said to be Chelsea’s number one target but the Argentinian international’s £90m asking price could prove too much for the London club.

Instead, a move for Cutrone could be considered. The 20-year-old is said to be valued at £25m by Milan, and would certainly be a cheaper option in the January transfer window.

Since making his debut for the Rossoneri against Bologna near the end of the 2016/17 season, the striker has gone on to make 53 appearances in all competitions, scoring 21 goals.

Cutrone is a raw talent compared to Icardi, and it remains to be seen whether the Blues would want to take a risk on another forward failing to hit the ground running following their experience with Morata.
