Chelsea Leading Tough Negotiations With Atletico

Filipe Luis might have made a mistake when he decided not to negotiate his contract with Atletico. The Spaniards who looked upset when Luis told them off, were expecting Chelsea to pay the defender’s buy-out clause. That did not happen despite rumors strongly linking him to the Blues. According to the Daily Star, Mourinho will try signing the Brazilian for less than his buyout clause outlines.

Chelsea are looking to spend no more than £15million on Luis who has a clause in his contract which allows him to leave as long as a club pays £19million for his signature. Unfortunately, the Blues are not keen on spending that much on the 28 year old who is still in Brazil with his national team. It is strange though how Mourinho decided to spend so much money on Fabregas which was not a necessity while being so conservative when it comes to Luis. The left-back is not only a necessity for Chelsea but he also represents an incredible opportunity which does not come along to often. He still has a few good years in front of him and he is currently at the peak of his career. It would be a pity for the Blues to miss out on one of last year’s most efficient defenders.

Atletico are not willing to let Luis go on the cheap and the only way he can make it to Stamford Bridge is if Chelsea pay his buyout clause but Mourinho is playing hardball as he knows he has the upper-hand in the negotiations.
