Chelsea Lead Three Teams in Transfer Tussle For ‘New De Bruyne’

Chelsea are leading the race for Brondby midfielder Mads Bayer, according to reports in the English media.

The 15-year-old has already been compared to Kevin De Bruyne by some sections of the media, and he is attracting interest from the Blues as well as three Italian clubs.

Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan are also keeping tabs on Bayer’s situation, who has yet to sign professional terms with Brondby due to his age. He currently has two years left on his youth contract with the Danish side.

There is one major stumbling block in Chelsea’s attempts to sign the teenager, though. New rules that govern transfers of British clubs, following Brexit in January, mean the Blues can’t sign overseas players until they are 18.

The London club must, therefore, wait until Bayer is old enough to make their move and there is a danger that they could miss out to one of the Italian teams as a consequence.
