Chelsea Lead Race For World Cup Star Who Came Very Close To Joining United Last Summer

Chelsea are currently favourites to snap up Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer next summer, according to Tuttosport.

The 27-year-old, who has been selected in France’s World Cup, is struggling to find an agreement over a new contract and it is looking increasingly likely that he will leave Italy when his current deal expires in June.

Rabiot is reportedly demanding an increase on his current €7m (£6m) a year salary in order to remain at Juve and he is currently looking at other options.

Tuttosport suggest that the Frenchman would find it difficult to “resist the advances” of Chelsea, who have been regularly linked with the player in recent months.

Premier League rivals Manchester United actually came pretty close to signing Rabiot before the start of the season but talks broke down over personal terms. The Red Devils bought Casemiro instead so it is unlikely that they will rival Graham Potter’s side for his services but we shall see how this transfer story develops.
