Chelsea Lead Hulk Chase

According to Metro, Chelsea stand first in the queue of clubs interested in Zenit Saint Petersburg striker Hulk, as the player’s agent confirmed his client’s probability of moving to one of the biggest clubs in Europe when the summer transfer window opens.

Hulk began his career in his native Brazil with Vitoria in 2003 as a youth player, and signed a professional contract soon after. A year later, the striker moved to a completely different part of the world, with Japanese league team Kawasaki Frontale signing the powerful attacker for three seasons which also comprised some loan spells. After a one-year stint with Tokyo Verdy, Hulk moved to Portugal with FC Porto, where he gained his reputation as a lethal attacker. The 27-year old was in splendid form, scoring 54 goals in 99 appearances, attracting interest from all over Europe. However, he turned down moves to big European outfits, and chose Zenit instead in 2012. His time in Russia has been full of controversy, including him having having tiffs with the club officials and other fellow players.

Jose Mourinho is reportedly a big fan of Hulk, and may well want to sign the striker in the summer, allowing Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba to leave the club. The returning Romelu Lukaku and Hulk could form a powerful partnership up front, and certainly give the manager more options. How Hulk fares in the World Cup (assuming he is selected) will surely have an influence on what he does and where he moves to, so any transfer will only happen after the event is concluded you would imagine.
