Chelsea ‘Keeping An Eye’ On 70M Rated La Liga Star At World Cup With Potter A ‘Huge Admirer’

Chelsea will be “keeping an eye” on Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong’s performances at the World Cup, according to London World reporter Rahman Osman.

The journalist claims that Graham Potter is a “huge admirer” of the Netherlands international and scouts have been sent out to Qatar to watch him in action.

It is believed that Potter is looking for a player that can dictate play from the middle of the park and de Jong is someone who would fit the profile.

Both Jorginho and N’Golo Kante have contracts that expire in June so bringing in another midfielder is something that the club will need to do sooner or later.

Whether de Jong is open to leaving Barca, though, it is open for debate. The Dutchman could have left the Camp Nou for Manchester United in the summer but he opted to remain at the La Liga club. He is thought to have a £70m valuation so we shall see if the Blues do make a formal approach in January or at the end of the season.
