Chelsea Keen On Strengthening Forward Options As They Target £39m Rated Polish Poacher

Chelsea are interested in AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek, according to reports in the Italian press. The forward is said to be valued at €45m (£39m) by the Rossoneri.

The Serie A side only signed the 24-year-old from Genoa for €35m last January but with the club struggling in the league, and unlikely to finish in the Champions League places, they could look to cash in on the Polish international.

It must be said that Piatek hasn’t been in the best of form this season, having scored just three goals in eight games. He was a substitute in the 2-2 draw against Lecce last weekend but came on to score in the second half.

Frank Lampard is likely to be looking for another striker with the Blues boss having acknowledged that Olivier Giroud is unhappy with his lack of game time.

Even so, any bid will depend on the club’s transfer ban being lifted. The Court of Arbitration for Sport are weighing up Chelsea’s appeal, but if they keep the embargo in place, the earliest they could sign Piatek would be at the end of the season.
