Chelsea Keen On Croatian Striker

Chelsea are keen on bringing Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic to Stamford Bridge, and they are ready to offer key defender David Luiz to the German club in return, reports the Mirror.

The Blues are desperate for firepower, and Jose Mourinho has cleared the air over Demba Ba’s future. The Senegalese will leave the club in this window, and the same could be the result with Samuel Eto’o. The former Barcelona striker played a crucial role in the season for Chelsea, but was not good enough for Jose Mourinho to retain in the squad. With news coming in about Chelsea wrapping up the signing of Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid, the club are looking for a strike partner for the Spaniard, and Mandzukic is on top of that list.

Romelu Lukaku will also be returning from his one-year loan spell at Everton, and Mourinho will hence have multiple options in attack to juggle with. The same will be the case with Victor Moses who has had a rather disappointing loan spell at Liverpool. The former Wigan frontman could not get much time in the first team, and returns to London with no more playing time.

Mandzukic would represent a good striking partner with Costa, and Lukaku’s return with Fernando Torres’ availability could bring back the good times at Chelsea.
