Chelsea Join ‘Summer Scramble’ For £10m Rated USA International Defender

Chelsea have joined the likes of Newcastle and Aston Villa in the battle for Wigan Athletic left-back Antonee Robinson, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper reports that the American international could be the subject of a “summer scramble” to sign the defender after his deadline day move to AC Milan collapsed last month.

The Rossoneri were prepared to pay £10m for Robinson but the Italian side didn’t have enough time to complete the defender’s medical before the close of the transfer window.

However, despite the move not working out, it could allow the 22-year-old to make the switch to a Premier League club in the summer instead.

Chelsea are in the market for a left-back, with neither Marcos Alonso nor Emerson Palmieri having impressed manager Frank Lampard. The Blues had been heavily linked with Ben Chilwell but the Leicester star could cost upwards of £60m and Robinson would be a more economical alternative.
