Chelsea Join Four Clubs In Race To Sign Ligue One Star On Free Transfer

Chelsea have joined a whole host of clubs in pursuing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to reports from France.

The Blues, Bayern Munich and Juventus are now said to be keen on the Frenchman, in addition to Barcelona and Liverpool who have been heavily linked with the 23-year-old in recent weeks.

Rabiot’s contract expires at the end of the season, and he will be able to talk to clubs in a few months’ time about a free transfer next summer.

PSG manager Thomas Tuchel says he is a big fan of the France international:

“I love working with Rabiot I really like Adrien, he had a difficult situation when he voluntarily missed the World Cup, but his effort with the team has been maximum, he has not missed any training.”

“He can be adapted to any system and if he is physically well he is essential for our approach. He has great potential and is a player trained in the club. It is very important to have footballers of this nature.”

It’s clear that the German coach doesn’t want to let Rabiot leave, but the fact that the Ligue One side have failed to agree terms with the player despite the midfielder heading into the final nine months of his contract indicates a departure is a growing possibility.

The Frenchman has played the full 90 minutes in all five of PSG’s games so far this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
