Chelsea Involved In Three Team Battle For £20m Rated German Fullback With Eight Goals This Season

Chelsea are one of “several clubs” who are still keeping tabs on Atalanta left-back Robin Gosens, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian website claims that the Blues have been joined by Schalke and Lyon in the race to secure the German at the end of the season.

Gosens was originally linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window, with some in the English press reporting that Frank Lampard’s side could be lining up a £20m bid.

The 25-year-old has been extremely impressive this campaign, having scored eight goals and provided five assists in 30 appearances.

It must be pointed out, however, that Gosens has generally played as a wing-back this season and his attacking instincts make him a similar player to Marcos Alonso.

Lampard has clearly not been impressed with either Alonso or Emerson, having chosen to pick captain Cesar Azpilicueta on the left-hand side on a regular basis, and it appears Gosens is one of those being eyed as a potential signing to strengthen in that position.
