Chelsea Injury Report For The Week: The Latest Updates On Kante, Rudiger And Zouma

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard believes N’Golo Kante may be fit to face Lille in the Champions League on Wednesday night. The Frenchman sat out the win against Brighton due to a hamstring injury but he could be back soon:

“It’s been difficult for us but mainly for him to get going because of the break up of his pre-season as his injury carried over from last year, so it wasn’t right to risk it today [versus Brighton]. He could have a chance for Lille.”

Antonio Rudiger has a groin injury which appears to be still causing him some issues. The German is said to be in pain which will need to be resolved before he makes his comeback.

Kurt Zouma was not in the squad on Saturday due to illness, but the defender should be back in the squad for the Lille game, alongside Olivier Giroud who has missed the last three matches due to a virus.

Emerson Palmieri is unavailable until after the next international break with a thigh problem he sustained early on in the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is now running outside follow his Achilles injury, but it is too early to say when he will make his first-team return. Marco van Ginkel (knee) is also still on the treatment table.
