‘He’s Given Chelsea His Usual 3 Games Per Season’ ‘Just Sell’ Fans React As Defender Is Ruled Out For Crucial Fixtures

Chelsea centre-back Wesley Fofana won’t be available for the next three matches due to concussion protocols, according to reports.

The Daily Mail claims that the 24-year-old picked up a head injury after being punched by his own goalkeeper, Filip Jorgensen, during the 2-1 win over Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night. Fans on X were not happy when they heard the news:

Which fixtures will Fofana be absent for?

Head coach Enzo Maresca has already confirmed that the Frenchman won’t face Brighton this weekend but the player will also be forced to miss two other important matches.

Fofana won’t be in the matchday squad for the Champions League group game against Benfica on Tuesday evening, and he won’t be available when the Blues host Liverpool at Stamford Bridge next Saturday either.

Chelsea have a lengthy injury list

Fofana joins no less than 7 other players on the treatment table. Tosin Adarabioyo has been ruled out until the next international break with a calf problem, along with Cole Palmer (groin).

There is some hope that Romeo Lavia and Benoit Badiashile could be available for upcoming fixtures but they haven’t played any competitive football since the Club World Cup.

Liam Delap (hamstring), Dario Essugo (thigh) and Levi Colwill (ACL) are long-term absentees.
