Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia has shared a picture of himself back on the training pitch at Cobham.
The Belgian has been sidelined since last month due to a hamstring injury, having missed the Blues’ last five matches in all competitions. However, it appears as if Lavia is close to making his first-team comeback and supporters on X are keenly anticipating his return:
He can’t wait to join the party

Having him fit for 30+ games guarantees us a top 4 finish without a doubt.

Now that Caicedo is playing well, does that mean Enzo will be benched

What has Maresca said about Lavia’s fitness?
Speaking about the 20-year-old in his pre-match press conference before the win over West Ham, head coach Enzo Maresca said:
“Romeo is very close, hopefully for the next game. Unfortunately, he needs more time.”
Maresca’s remarks do suggest that Lavia will either be in the matchday squad against Barrow in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night or versus Brighton this weekend.
There is competition for places in Chelsea’s midfield
While Lavia did impress when he started the opening game of the season against Manchester City, he may find it tough to get his place back.
Moises Caicedo was very impressive at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon, while it would be a surprise if Maresca decided to drop Enzo Fernandez. Lavia may have to wait for his chance.
