Pochettino Confirms That 4 Chelsea Players Could Return For Aston Villa Clash

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella, Noni Madueke and Armando Broja could all be in the matchday squad for the Aston Villa match.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, the Blues boss said that there is still a slight doubt about Caicedo, who has not taken part in full training after sustaining a knee injury away on international duty. However, he will be assessed, along with Broja, ahead of the game on Sunday:

“We need to assess Moi tomorrow. He was training individually, not with the team today. We need to assess tomorrow and we will see if he can be involved on Sunday. Marc suffered a fever but has been back since when we restarted the training this week.”

“Noni was involved also during the week in training, so I think yes he will be ready. Maybe we need one day more for Broja. I think maybe he can be involved Sunday, but we are not sure. We need to assess him tomorrow.”

Caicedo may only be fit enough for the bench

It looks like the Ecuadorian international may only get one day of full training at the very most ahead of the Villa fixture.

Considering that he hasn’t played since Ecuador’s 2-1 win over Uruguay almost two weeks ago, it suggests he may not be ready to start on Sunday.

Who would play instead of Caicedo against Villa?

Pochettino handed Lesley Ugochukwu a start against Bournemouth last weekend, and the 19-year-old made a good impression on his full Premier League debut.

You would back him to keep his place in the lineup if it is decided that Caicedo has not recovered full match fitness.
