‘Fully Involved’ – Chelsea Confirm Double Injury Boost Ahead Of Newcastle Clash

Chelsea duo Levi Colwill and Malo Gusto were “fully involved” in training on Monday, the club have confirmed.

Colwill withdrew from international duty with England due to a shoulder problem, which also kept him out of the 4-4 draw against Manchester City.

Gusto, meanwhile, had to withdraw from France’s Under 21 squad due to a knee injury but Chelsea have said both players have now recovered from their “minor injuries”.

It is expected that the two defenders will be ready for selection when Mauricio Pochettino’s side take on Newcastle at St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon.

Has any other Chelsea player returned to full training?

Despite hopes that Romeo Lavia (ankle) and Christopher Nkunku (knee) would be available directly after the international break, the pair are still undergoing rehabilitation.

There is a chance that one of the midfielders will be in contention for the weekend but it is now almost certain that neither player will have a big part to play against the Magpies.

Updates on the fitness of 4 other Chelsea players

Trevoh Chalobah has suffered yet another setback in his return from a hamstring problem. The defender has not played a single game this season and it is now thought that he could be out until February at the earliest.

Ben Chilwell is still in rehabilitation following his own hamstring injury. The left-back last played against Brighton in the Carabao Cup back in late September and it was estimated that he could be out for around two months. He could be back in contention at the beginning of December.

Like Chalobah, Carney Chukwuemeka had a setback in his recovery from a knee issue and there is currently no date set for his comeback. Wesley Fofana, meanwhile, is expected to be sidelined for many more months with an ACL he sustained in pre-season.
