Chelsea Receive Double Fitness Boost Ahead Of Man City Clash

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has revealed that Levi Colwill and Enzo Fernandez are likely to be “available” to face Manchester City this weekend.

The pair still need to come through training on Friday to make sure they are in contention but Maresca has said that they could both be fit for the trip to the Etihad:

“Probably Levi [Colwill] and Enzo [Fernandez] could be available, depends on today’s session”.

The two players were absent for the 3-1 win over Wolves on Monday night, but Maresca did not believe that either would spend much time on the sidelines.

Another player is set for a long spell on the treatment table

While there is good news on Colwill and Fernandez, the same cannot be said for Romeo Lavia, who has been struck down by yet another injury.

The Belgian international missed the Wolves fixture and Maresca now says he could be missing for several weeks.

Lavia has already been ruled out for two separate periods this season with a hamstring injury, while he only played one game in his debut campaign for the Blues due to fitness problems.

Colwill and Fernandez are the only two expected to return for the game on Saturday evening, with Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana, Mykhailo Mudryk and Omari Kellyman also still ruled out, in addition to Lavia.

City have problems of their own, with Ruben Dias having been forced off at half-time in their 4-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. The Portuguese international is unlikely to feature this weekend, along with the likes of Nathan Ake, Jeremy Doku, Oscar Bobb and Rodri.

However, manager Pep Guardiola could potentially hand debuts to three new signings: Omar Marmoush, Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov have all been snapped up over the past week.
