Chelsea midfielder Jordan Henderson is still building up his fitness after a wrist injury he sustained at the World Cup.

The 36-year-old had to undergo an operation in hospital after a freak accident while jumping over an advertising hoarding after England’s 3-2 win over Mexico early last month.

Henderson was pictured in training last week, but he did not feature in the last pre-season friendly against Real Sociedad at the weekend.

Considering the veteran’s lack of match sharpness, he may only be ready for selection once the season kicks off.

Aaron Anselmino

The Argentinian defender picked up a knock which prevented him from playing against Real Sociedad on Saturday.

Anselmino was on the bench for the previous game versus Juventus, and he is not expected to be sidelined for too long.
