‘Brutal News’ ‘Chelsea Medical Hospital. Another Patient Checked In’ Fans React To Latest Injury Setback

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has confirmed that winger Jamie Gittens has torn his hamstring.

The 21-year-old pulled up midway through the first half of the 3-2 win over West Ham last weekend, and asked for an update on his fitness, Rosenior delivered the bad news:

“Jamie is looking a little bit more long-term. It’s a real shame for him; he’s got a tear in his hamstring. That’s a real shame for him as, obviously, I’ve not worked with him for too long, but I know about his career and what an outstanding player he is. So that’s going to be a big miss for us.”

Supporters on X have been lamenting the club’s bad luck with injuries in recent weeks:

How long could Gittens be out for?

Liam Delap suffered a similar injury against Fulham back in late August and he was sidelined for more than two months.

However, a lot depends on the severity of the muscular tear. It can sometimes require surgery, and that could mean Gittens is out of action for three months or even longer.

Rosenior has also said that captain Reece James and Pedro Neto will face late fitness tests ahead of the match against Wolves. Both missed the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Arsenal on Tuesday due to knocks. Filip Jorgensen appears to be in the same boat.

Tosin Adarabioyo (hamstring) and Romeo Lavia (fitness) are both nearly ready to return to the matchday squad, while Dario Essugo (muscular) and Levi Colwill (ACL) are long-term absentees, along with Gittens.
