Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer may still be carrying a hamstring injury which he sustained last month against Servette, according to the Daily Mail journalist Kieran Gill.
It was reported on Tuesday evening that the 22-year-old had withdrawn from the England squad due to an “ongoing issue” and, writing on his X account, Gill said:
Palmer returning to Chelsea to continue “rehabilitation for ongoing issue” following assessment by England staff. He previously complained of a hamstring problem after Servette game at Stamford Bridge but club not yet specified issue https://t.co/FAbpRDl9zH

As mentioned, Palmer is now back at the Cobham Training Centre for treatment, but it remains to be seen when he will return to fitness.
Fans will hope that Palmer has been withdrawn as a precaution
The player would have been keen to impress England’s new head coach Lee Carsley, having been mostly used from the bench by previous manager Gareth Southgate, so he wouldn’t have taken the decision to withdraw if it wasn’t a serious problem.
Palmer will have the best part of 2 weeks to recover from the injury, and supporters will be keeping their fingers crossed that he will be available for Chelsea’s next fixture against Bournemouth on September 14th.
Chelsea have received an injury boost
While there are concerns about Palmer’s fitness, there is better news when it comes to one of his club teammates Romeo Lavia. The Belgian had his own hamstring injury that meant he was forced to miss the Blues’ last three fixtures.
However, it has been reported that Lavia has now started training again, with there now being an expectation that he will return for the Bournemouth fixture. If you want the latest update on Chelsea’s injury situation, read our article here.
