Enzo Maresca Provides Double Injury Boost Ahead Of Chelsea’s Clash Against Ipswich

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has revealed that neither Cole Palmer nor Tosin Adarabioyo picked up injuries against Legia Warsaw.

Both players were substituted at halftime in Poland but, speaking in his press conference after the 3-0 win on Thursday evening, Maresca said:

“No, no, no, we planned for him [Palmer] and for Tosin 45 minutes so everything was planned”.

It means that Palmer and Adarabioyo are expected to be in the matchday squad when the Blues face Ipswich Town at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

The latest Chelsea injury news

Speaking before the victory over Legia, Maresca revealed that Romeo Lavia is close to making his return to training.

The Belgian international picked up another muscular problem during the international break but there is a good chance that he will feature again within the next few games.

Marc Guiu is also making progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury. The striker has not played since February, having picked up the issue during the 2-1 win over West Ham, but he is expected to play again before the end of the season.

Wesley Fofana has undergone an operation on his own hamstring injury and won’t play again this campaign. Omari Kellyman is in the same boat.

Ipswich could have a former Chelsea player back available

Omari Hutchinson has been sidelined with a thigh injury over the past few weeks, but he is believed to have a good chance of being in contention for Sunday’s game.

It will be the first time he’s played at Stamford Bridge since being sold to Ipswich for £20m last summer. He has only scored three goals following his transfer to Portman Road but one of those came in the first fixture between the two sides earlier this season.
