Dario Essugo
Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Maresca confirmed that the midfielder has suffered a minor setback in his recovery from a thigh injury:
“Dario, he was OK. He has started some sessions with us. Now he needs to slow down a little bit. So he will be out again. But hopefully it’s nothing important.”
In the build-up to the Arsenal game, Maresca surprised some by stating that Essugo had returned to full training.
The Portuguese Under 21 international was expected to be sidelined until early in the New Year. It remains to be seen when he will make his comeback now.
