‘This Is Now Getting Out Of Hand’ ‘Time To Sell’ Chelsea Fans React As Player Suffers Another Long Term Injury

Chelsea vice-captain Ben Chilwell will be out for at least 2 months with a hamstring injury, according to multiple reports

The defender picked up the problem during the 1-0 win over Brighton last month, despite playing the full 90 minutes. It’s a third successive season where Chilwell will be sidelined for an extended period due to injury and fans on X have debating what to do with the player:

Chilwell’s fitness record for Chelsea isn’t great

Since arriving from Leicester City for £50m in 2020, the fullback has missed 70 games due to fitness problems. He has spent a significant period of his time at Stamford Bridge on the treatment table.

In some ways, it is fortunate that manager Mauricio Pochettino has plenty of left-back options at his disposal, with Levi Colwill, Marc Cucurella and Ian Maatsen all able to play there. However, he would certainly prefer to have Chilwell available and ready to play.

Another fullback is closing in on a return to fitness

While Chilwell may be out until December, captain Reece James is expected to be back in contention to play very soon. It is believed that the Burnley game this weekend may come too soon for the 23-year-old, but he should be raring to go when the Blues take on Arsenal after the international break.

Pochettino will be delighted to have James among his options heading into a difficult run of fixtures between now and Christmas.
