‘Great News’ ‘So His Injury Must Have Not Been That Bad?’ Fans Delighted As Chelsea Star Returns To Training

Chelsea vice-captain Ben Chilwell is back in training ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final tie against Leicester City.

The left-back went to see a specialist about a knee injury and he was subsequently left out of the squad for the 3-2 win over Newcastle at the start of this week. However, Chilwell was then named in England’s squad for the friendlies versus Brazil and Belgium, which indicated that it wouldn’t be long before he returned to fitness. After he was pictured back out on the training pitch at Cobham on Thursday, fans on X now assume he will be in contention to play this weekend:

Chilwell had an impact injury

It is believed that the fullback took a knock to his knee against Brentford. There was a lot of swelling and it took some time to assess the seriousness of the problem.

From the looks of things, it appears Chilwell has suffered no lasting damage. It remains to be seen, though, whether he will be fit enough to start against his former club.

The Chelsea defender does have a poor injury record

Since moving to Stamford Bridge from Leicester for £50m in 2020, Chilwell has spent 490 days on the treatment table, picking up an ACL injury and two serious hamstring issues.

Everyone feared the worst when it was confirmed that he would see a specialist about his latest injury setback but luckily for the player he has escaped another long layoff.
