Romeo Lavia suffered what was described as a “minor hamstring injury” before the 6-2 win over Wolves last month.
The 20-year-old has already missed two Premier League fixtures but there is hope that he will return to fitness right after the international break.
It is believed to be a similar situation for captain Reece James. The fullback picked up his own hamstring problem in preseason.
Rather than taking any risks, considering his history with such injuries, the medical team decided to be conservative with his recovery in anticipation that he would be back available by mid-September.
