Latest Chelsea Injury News And Expected Return Dates: Updates On Christopher Nkunku, Reece James And 4 Others

Chelsea defender Levi Colwill is continuing to undergo treatment on a toe injury which has kept him out of the Blues’ last two games.

The 21-year-old was substituted 10 minutes before the end of the 2-2 draw against Brentford at the start of this month.

Colwill was subsequently absent for the win over Newcastle in the league and the victory against Leicester in the FA Cup last weekend.

While an estimate has not been given on when the centre-back will be back in action, there is an expectation that he will return after the international break.

Expected Return Date – Saturday 30th March v Burnley

Christopher Nkunku has already been sidelined with a hamstring problem for the best part of three weeks.

The Frenchman picked up the injury after the Carabao Cup final defeat to Liverpool at the end of last month.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that Nkunku could be sidelined for up to a month so a comeback after the international break is on the cards.

If he is to be available for the Burnley game in 10 days’ time, though, we should see the 26-year-old back on the training field imminently.

Expected Return Date – Thursday 4th April v Manchester United

England manager Gareth Southgate has provided an update on the fitness of captain Reece James.

Speaking about the right-back’s chances of playing for the Three Lions at the European Championships this summer, Southgate said:

“We don’t have an exact date for him coming back but we would hope he would have some games before the Euros.”

James had hamstring surgery in late December and it was estimated that it would take 4 months for him to be back on the pitch.

Expected Return Date – Saturday 20th April v Manchester City (FA Cup)

There is no indication as to when Romeo Lavia and Lesley Ugochukwu will return to full training.

Lavia has not played since making his debut against Crystal Palace back in late December. The Belgian is said to be having issues with a thigh injury.

Ugochukwu suffered what turned out to be a serious hamstring tear in the defeat to Wolves on Christmas Eve. Both players are still undergoing rehabilitation.

Pochettino has confirmed that Wesley Fofana (ACL) is not expected to play any part in Chelsea’s remaining games this season.

Expected Return Date – Unknown
