Latest Chelsea Injury News And Expected Return Dates: Updates On Marc Cucurella, Christopher Nkunku And 7 Others

Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella is back in light training having recovered from an ankle injury.

The defender has been sidelined for over two months after undergoing surgery in mid-December. While he is not expected to be fit to face Leeds on Wednesday night, he could be back in the squad this weekend.

Thiago Silva is also closing in on his comeback, having been pictured back out on the grass at Cobham for the first time after picking up a groin problem against Crystal Palace.

The Brazilian missed the draw versus Manchester City and the defeat to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final last Sunday.

Expected Return Date – Saturday 2nd March v Brentford

Benoit Badiashile injured his groin during the win over Aston Villa in the FA Cup at the start of February.

The Frenchman was estimated to be out for up to a month so he is likely to return to training within the next week.

Romeo Lavia has not been seen in action since sustaining a thigh injury on his debut during the home match against Crystal Palace just after Christmas.

The midfielder’s return is pencilled in for the middle of next month.

Expected Return Date – Monday 11th March v Newcastle

Reece James is in light training as he builds up his fitness ahead of his comeback from hamstring surgery.

The captain went under the knife in December and he was expected to be out for four months. A return after the international break is likely.

Christopher Nkunku has suffered yet another fitness setback following the defeat against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino says the Frenchman will be sidelined for at least four weeks.

Expected Return Date – Saturday 30th March v Burnley

Carney Chukwuemeka has had a difficult first season at Stamford Bridge due to fitness problems. The midfielder returned from a long-term knee injury in January but he has subsequently picked up an ankle issue.

He is still in rehabilitation with no estimate given on when he will return to the pitch.

Lesley Ugochukwu has suffered what looks like a serious hamstring injury. The teenager hasn’t played since the defeat to Wolves at Molineux on Christmas Eve.

Wesley Fofana is continuing his recovery from the ACL injury that he sustained in pre-season.
