Manager Mauricio Pochettino has expressed optimism that Wesley Fofana will be available for the first day of pre-season.

The centre-back has not played a single minute of football this campaign, having sustained an ACL injury last July and, when asked whether Fofana is making enough progress to be available soon, Pochettino replied:

“We hope so, yes. He is doing well, very positive, we were talking yesterday and hope he can be available to be part of the group. He is still not part of group training.”

Along with Fofana, Enzo Fernandez (who underwent a hernia operation earlier this month) and Romeo Lavia (thigh) will also not play in Chelsea’s remaining matches.

Expected Return Date – Next Season
