Chelsea Have Two Reservations About Signing United Starlet Who Is Poised To Leave Old Trafford

Chelsea have “reservations” about signing Manchester United attacking midfielder Angel Gomes, according to Goal reporter Charlotte Duncker.

The website’s United correspondent says the Blues are one of a number of teams interested in the 19-year-old but they have two major concerns about the deal.

Gomes will be able to leave Old Trafford next year without a transfer fee due to his contract expiring with the Red Devils but, due to his age, the Manchester club will be due significant compensation.

On top of that, the England Under 20 international’s favoured position is in the no.10 role. With Mason Mount and Tino Anjorin also preferring to play in the same area of the pitch, it could cause some major issues.

The Blues do not want to block the pathway of other youngsters who have been developed by the academy so Chelsea may opt against an offer for Gomes even if he does end up becoming available next summer.
