Chelsea Have ‘Taken A Liking’ To Striker Who Has Scored 3 Goals In 3 Matches At The U20 World Cup

Santos striker Marco Leonardo has grabbed the attention of Chelsea scouts after impressing for Brazil at the Under 20 World Cup, according to 90min.com.

The website claims that the Blues have “taken a liking” to the forward whilst also keeping tabs on Andrey Santos’s progress with his national team.

Leonardo has picked up three goals in three group-stage games for Brazil, scoring a brace in the 3-2 defeat to Italy and another in the 6-0 win over the Dominican Republic.

Chelsea are not the only team who are tracking the 20-year-old, with Manchester United, Newcastle, Arsenal, Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Roma all said to be keen on the player.

What do Chelsea fans need to know about Leonardo?

The striker is already very experienced for someone of his age, having racked up 142 appearances for Santos’s first team since making his senior debut in 2020.

Leonardo scored 21 goals in all competitions last season, having now scored 42 in total. From the looks of things, he is very much ready for a move to Europe and, unlike Andrey Santos, his Brazilian teammate should be eligible for a work permit.
