Chelsea Have Strong ‘Lines Of Communication’ As They Try And Land 100M ‘Top Target’

Chelsea remain in talks to sign Inter Milan forward Romelu Lukaku, according to the Sun. The newspaper claims that the “lines of communication” between the Blues, Inter and the player remain “hot” and a deal is still very much on the cards this summer.

This does contradict other reports coming out of Italy that suggest that Inter are very happy to keep hold of the Belgian international, despite claims that the Serie A champions remain in financial difficulty.

Lukaku is believed to be valued at above the £100m mark; a figure which is steep for a player who will be 29 next year, but the Sun claim that the striker remains Chelsea’s “top target.”

The former Manchester United player would undoubtedly be a cheaper option than Erling Haaland, but the fact that the Norwegian is eight years younger would make the Borussia Dortmund star a better long-term investment.

Whichever player is the priority, it seems certain that Thomas Tuchel’s side will make a formal offer for one of them in the coming days and weeks.
