Chelsea Have Offered Contract Worth In Excess Of 163K A Week To Serie A Star

Chelsea have offered a contract worth over €10m a season (approximately £163,000 a week) to Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku, according to reports in the Italian media.

It follows on from claims yesterday that the Blues had tabled a bid in the region of €130m (£110m) for the Belgian international.

While it seems Inter would be prepared to sell up, Lukaku himself has apparently already ruled out a return to England, despite the lucrative contract which has been proposed.

There are apparently two reasons why the 28-year-old is not interested in Chelsea’s offer. Firstly, he is very appreciative of the role Inter have played in helping turn his career around after his struggles at Manchester United.

Secondly, Lukaku is not particularly interested in moving back to England where he has spent most of his career. It appears, therefore, that Chelsea will have to move on to other targets.

Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland remains the primary focus although there are very real difficulties in trying to get that deal over the line.
