Chelsea Have ‘No Chance’ Of Signing Top Target

Chelsea have been told that there is “no chance” of them signing one of their top targets this summer, with Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri saying categorically that Alex Sandro will stay in Italy.

Antonio Conte has been trying to strengthen his defence all summer long, so far only bringing in Antonio Rudiger. It is believed that the Blues manager wants to bring in at least another defensive player, with Virgil van Dijk, Serge Aurier and Alex Sandro as top targets.

Sandro has been linked with a move to Chelsea already during this window, and there were reports that Conte had seen a £60m move for the left sided defender rejected by Juventus.

Speaking after Juventus’ 2-0 defeat to Tottenham on Saturday at Wembley, the Serie A champions boss Allegri said on the chances of Sandro leaving for Stamford Bridge: “No chance. Alex Sandro is a Juventus player and he will stay one.”

It comes as a blow to Antonio Conte, who is desperate to provide competition for Marcos Alonso on the left side of defence. Chelsea have made some fantastic additions to their squad this summer, with Alvaro Morata joining Bakayoko, Rudiger and Caballero so far at Stamford Bridge. And yet, there is still a sense of more needing to come in order to solidify their defence of the Premier League title.

With Alex Sandro seemingly off the cards, perhaps Conte will turn his attention to Virgil van Dijk – who has recently handed in a transfer request at Southampton.
