Chelsea Have ‘Contacted’ The Agent Of Spanish Teenager With 427M Buyout Clause

Chelsea have “contacted” super-agent Jorge Mendes about Barcelona wingback Alejandro Balde, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Catalan publication claim that the Blues have enquired about the teenager’s availability on two previous occasions over the last eighteen months. It also appears that, in addition to holding talks with Mendes, they have mentioned his name in negotiations with Barca over Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta.

Balde actually has a €500m (£427m) release clause in his contract but the Spaniard has made it known that he wants to leave the Camp Nou this summer if he isn’t part of Xavi’s first-team plans for the upcoming campaign.

The La Liga side’s interest in Alonso does suggest that Balde won’t be getting much game time next season so he may push for an exit. With that being the case, it could mean that the 18-year-old would be open to signing for Chelsea.

Whether Balde will be included in a swap deal with either Alonso or Azpilicueta moving the other way, we shall have to wait and see.
